Definition of a Team

A group in itself does not necessarily constitute a team. Teams normally have members with complementary skills and generate synergy through a coordinated effort which allows each member to maximise his/her strengths and minimise his/her weaknesses. Team members need to learn how to help one another, help other team members realize their true potential, and create an environment that allows everyone to go beyond their limitations.[1]

This is the wikipedia version of what constitutes a Team and I honestly couldn't have said it any better. "Running Amok" has inspired my view of Team work and of mankind in general. As their Coach, I get to watch each athlete strive to achieve their best, while at the same time, also looking out for the good of the entire Team. I have never witnessed such a selfless act in a group of people who have created themselves out of nothing more than the sheer enjoyment of helping each other. As I watched the Team race in the Warrior Dash last weekend, it wasn't lost on me, that each of them started and finished the race together - no matter what speed they could actually run it - they ran as a Team. As they came towards the finish, ready to jump into the mud pit, I have never seen or felt such a feeling of intense camaraderie and honest "liking" of one another before. I am honoured to be a part of this Team and every day I work with them, I always come away a better person than when I arrived. Thank you Amokers!!
